Did you know that there was a silent auction - oh my goodness, there were so many wonderful gifts that had been donated for this event from individuals and many of our local businesses.......
Citrus Heights Saw & Mower
Halls Furniture
Amy's Pet Grooming
Bank of America
Costco
Green Acres
O'Reilly Auto Parts
Runs with Scissors
Sam's Club
Wonderful Chinese Restaurant
and Gifts from the Garden itself
[Personally I won a TEMPURpedic pillow. I was so excited and so were others too because I had to keep an eye on it as it kept moving around the room ..... but it went home with me & I have to say it really is so comfortable. I really love it. Thank You Halls Furniture- ((my mother taught me well - I sent Halls a thank you note for their participation and support) Another gift I won included two hand made knitted adult hats - thank you. I know what skills it takes to produce these hats. Thank You.]
The computer and projector were set up on the stage area so that everyone could enjoy the pictures of the garden, workdays, plot sucesses and failures and the progress and activities in the garden itself....... this was a very nice touch.
The staffing for this event were soooooooo friendly, asking if they could get something else for you, or bring you something or throw your garbage away or bring you some drink, water, pie, MORE candy or or or or or. It really was wonderful. They even had staff out in the parking lot to help direct traffic. The parking lot was very full and there were cars parked on ALL sides of this little schoolhouse and in some places two and three maybe four deep. But no mishaps and everyone got parked. The raffle ticket sellers were on the ball and sold tickets to young and old alike.
IF you want more information about the Sylvan Ranch Community Garden located at the corner of Sylvan Road and Stock Ranch Road, Citrus Heights......... also check on the right side panel of this blog under Other Related Items to find the garden link to their website AND scroll further down and under the month of August I did a post capturing the garden in pictures.
Interested in a bed/plot at the garden? There are still a few left. Lots of help and encouragement. But the end result is amazingly good tasting vegetables and fruits and herbs. Try it, you might like it.
