"The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band (CHCMB) is reaching out to all music lovers interested in joining an award-winning local community marching band.

The CHCMB performs in a variety of Citrus Heights and regional events including the Red, White & Blue Parade, Orangevale Pow-Wow Days, the State Fair, and Citrus Heights Relay for Life.

Email / Internet Scams...... Help to Protect Yourself

One of the residents at the NA4 meeting last night brought up a question about Internet Scams and if there were any agencies tracking them. I wanted to provide this information to you so that you could pass it along to your constituents.

Email/ Internet scams can be reported directly to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx  This is a collaborative effort between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center. You can also review recent scam information and public service announcements from this agency at the same site. There is a link on our CHPD website that will take you straight there as well, simply go to www.citrusheightspd.net and click on the “Scam Email Alert” button on the bottom left corner.

While you are on the CHPD site explore around. We are constantly adding new information and looking for ways to provide better information to the community. You can make view criminal activity in your area, file crime reports, enter traffic complaints, report suspicious activity and stay up to date on our most recent news and media releases.

Maybe make this a year of learning about your city, your neighborhood, your street, your neighborhood & your own neighbors

Do you know your nighbors? Just the house's on each side of you? the house across the street from you? Why not make a special effort to have some type of gathering and invite YOUR neighbors. Get to know each other. You don't have to be best friends but be more than just a nod of the head. And then bring them all to our Neighborhood Meetings so we can get to know them too.

Another wish for this new year is I hope more of you will come out to our monthly neighborhood meetings and get more involved. We love to do more activities this year but I need your participation to make them worth while activities...........  we would like to participate more in the Red White & Blue Parade, Sunday Funday, Concerts in the Park, Campout, neighborhood picnic/ BBQs,
Neighborhood Night Out or Take Back the Night, Neighborhood Project ...........  and more.  See you in 2012

HAPPY "SAFE" NEW YEAR

This is so appropriate for the beginnng of the new year that I could not resist putting this up for all of us. Reminding each of us to not tailgate on our streets and highways--- especially the highways. With such high speeds (and many going WAYYYY over the speed limit, it is important to remember how much space you need in order for your car to stop and stop safely - without bumping into another car.

Do you know how many feet it takes to stop your car if you are going the highway speed of 65MPH???

Launch the pilot project for “It’s Not A Race! Create Space^®” with the cooperation of Nebraksa-based R&M Transportation, Fremont Contract Carriers, and H&M Transportation. Each of these companies carries the “It’s Not A Race! Create Space^®” message out onto roadways to encourage us all to practice safe space management (29% of all injury crashes result from poor space management.) The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, Great West Insurance, and the Nebraska Trucking Association are all key partners in this initiative.

At a regular meeting on December 8, 2011, the Citrus Heights City Council elected Jeff Slowey as mayor and Steve Miller as vice mayor for the next twelve months. (2012)

Each year, in December, the City Council selects one of its members to serve a one-year term as mayor and vice mayor. Jeff Slowey was elected to the City Council in November 2008, for a four-year term. Steve Miller was elected to the City Council in November 2010, for a four-year term.

Medical Marijuana Facilities in Citrus Heights - YES or NO??

On January 25^th, the Planning Commission will be considering a proposal from the City Attorney’s office that would prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries in Citrus Heights. The proposed ordinance, prohibiting medical marijuana facilities, will be available for public review by January 11^th. Following the Planning Commission’s discussion, the City Council will consider the proposal. The City Council meeting is tentatively set for February 9^th.

In the Sacramento Bee indicated that we did have one on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights in area 7/8. They showed a map of all the facilities in Sacramento County and there it was in Citrus Heights.  But how could that be??? We have never been sent information on a business going in for this purpose and I would receive it since I am adjacent to 7/8. For some reason I was under the impression that we already had something in place that said, "NO medical marijuana facilities" in Citrus Heights- even it is only a temporary item. I remember being told that through our Neighborhood Meeting . I am shocked!

I was hoping to be at the meeting, but looking at my schedule, if the meeting is in the evening I will NOT be able to make it. However, I have already sent comments by email to Colleen Mcduffee.  I hope that more of the residents of Citrus Heights will be attending.
